چکیده

Extended-Spectrum Beta-Lactamase (ESBL) are a class of plasmid-mediated diverse, complex and rapidly evolving enzymes which hydrolyzes penicillins, monobactams broad-spectrum cephalosporins. There is increasing prevalence ESBL-producing bacteria globally with higher reported in developing countries. The present study was designed to determine the antimicrobial sensitivity pattern ESBL producing isolates patients Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) Enugu. Urine samples were collected from total 284 subjects self-reported UTI In Enugu State University Science Technology Teaching Hospital, State, Nigeria between periods April May,2019.Samples analyzed for presence resistance using standard methods. Data by descriptive statistics SPSS version 23 (IBM Corp Armok, NY). A 145 strains Staphylococcus aureus (n= 19). Escherichia coli (n=52), Klebsiella pneumonia (n=45), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (n =12), Enterococcus faecalis (n=9) Proteus mirabilis (n=8), isolated 132 giving rate 34.6%. Forty-nine (49) comprising (n=5), (n=15), (n=16), (n=13), (n=8) (n=7) implicated accounting 46.8%ESBL-producing mediated UTI. high induced This portends great danger management bacterial infections.

Prevalence of Extended-Spectrum Beta-Lactamases Enzymes in Enterobacter Aerogenes Isolated from Urinary Tract Infections in Shahrekord City

Introduction: Enterobacteriaceae produce the Extended-Spectrum Beta-Lactamases which is considered as an important resistant mechanism of beta-lactam antibiotics. The resistance to beta-lactam antibiotics is the main problem in the bacterial infections therapy. The prevalence of these enzymes changes in different geographical areas and with time. The present study aims to explore the frequency ...

prevalence of extended-spectrum beta-lactamase-producing klebsiella pneumoniae isolates in nosocomial and community-acquired urinary tract infections

background klebsiella pneumoniae is a family member of enterobacteriaceae. isolates of k. pneumoniae produce enzymes that cause decomposition of third generation cephalosporins. these enzymes are known as extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (esbl). resistance of k. pneumoniae to beta-lactamase antibiotics is commonly mediated by beta-lactamase genes. objectives the aim of this study was to identif...

Extended Spectrum Beta Lactamase - a Rising Threat in Urinary Tract Infections

Antibiotic resistant urinary tract infections are increasing in frequency with Extended Spectrum beta Lactamase (ESBL) producing organisms on the rise. Routine antibiotic susceptibility testing may fail to detect these strains, leading to treatment failures. This study aims at the detection and analysis of ESBL producing Gram negative bacteria in hospitalized patients with UTI.Mid-stream clean ...
